Today, Thursday the 25th of August 2011, my favorite footbal player; Lionel Messi won the inaugural UEFA Best Player in Europe award, finishing ahead of Barcelona team mate Xavi and Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Argentinian international scored 53 goals in 2010/11, including 12 in the Champions League where he finished top scorer for the third successive season.
